Principal

Apeksha is an Engagement Manager with BSP whose engagements have focused on the Business and Clinical Strategy, Health Economics, and Medical Communications practices. Her recent projects include:

Business and Clinical Strategy:
  • Performed a strategic assessment of the alcohol/opioid dependence space to produce a go-to-market strategy for a treatment drug
  • Assessed the global market for a leading technology firm to inform a business case for investment in HbA1c HPLC solutions
  • Prioritized key business areas and sized the market to inform strategic planning and internal investment opportunities for a niche blood management company
Health Economics and Outcomes Research:
  • Demonstrated the impact of perioperative fluids on several patient outcomes including in-hospital complications, mortality, and acute kidney injury through a large multicenter study
  • Developed a cost calculator geared towards hospital stakeholders to examine economic outcomes and potential cost savings attributable to utilization of a surgical device
  • Developed a study protocol focusing on the association of fluid resuscitation in specific patient cohorts with clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization for a large medical device company
  • Examined real-world medication prescribing practices by leveraging a large electronic health record (EHR) database to create an evidence-based analysis of opioid usage in chronic pain patients
Medical Communications:
  • Published a manuscript investigating healthcare utilization and costs of cardiopulmonary complications following cardiac surgery in the United States
  • Generated evidence to support key value messages across multiple product portfolios for a large multinational medical device company through a comprehensive literature search and review
  • Developed a global value dossier based on an extensive literature review for a portfolio of safety engineered devices to support reimbursement submissions and use as a sales tool

 

Apeksha holds an M.S.E in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Prior to joining BSP, Apeksha also worked at the Office of Technology Transfer at the University where she created commercialization plans for multiple early-stage biomedical devices. Apeksha also has clinical research experience from her time working in the Neurology ICU at the Massachusetts General Hospital. In her spare time, Apeksha enjoys urban/street photography and volunteering with the University of Michigan Boston Chapter.
