BSP employed Random Forest, a machine learning model, to prioritize variables for modeling, which reduces potential biases compared to traditional methods. By using Random Forest, BSP was able to determine the relative importance of comorbid conditions, providing insights that a traditional approach cannot offer.

BSP used optimization algorithms to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of a novel diagnostic/ surveillance test for recurrent colorectal cancer

BSP developed a model framework, involving a Markov simulation, and calibrated the model against real-world data using optimization algorithms, such as Basin-hopping and Nelder-Mead methods. We conducted a comparative simulation to assess the clinical and economic impact of a novel diagnostic test versus current standard surveillance protocols.
