Study of 540,000 IBD Patient Visits Shows Opioids Given to 58% with Worst Pain

San Diego, CA (May 18-21, 2019) – Boston Strategic Partners, Inc., a global life sciences consulting firm, presented the poster Opioid Usage and Patient-Reported Pain Scores in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients: A Retrospective Analysis of a Large U.S. Electronic Health Record Database at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) 2019.

The poster featured visualization of treatment pathways and pain outcomes, where patient flows are depicted in full-color, easily understood diagrams. The goal of the study was to examine opioid usage and pain scores for patients suffering from IBD, stratified by type of visit. The study sourced data from Cerner Health Facts®, a comprehensive source of de-identified, real-world data. The poster was presented by Apeksha V. Shenoy, Senior Healthcare Consultant.
