Xavier is a Senior Consultant with BSP whose engagements have focused primarily on the firm’s Business and Clinical Strategy and Health Economics practices. His recent projects with BSP include:

Business and Clinical Strategy:

  • Defined an optimized target product profile to support the adoption of a novel treatment for opioid addiction by analyzing the competitive landscape and evaluating the thoughts of key stakeholders
  • Conducted an opportunity assessment in the infectious disease diagnostic market space by performing competitive intelligence to support the viable launch of a novel diagnostic in both the United States and Europe
  • Evaluated the market opportunity for a novel LC-MS technology by identifying and interviewing key opinion leaders in the biomarker research space to determine current practices and unmet needs

Health Economics and Outcomes Research:

  • Determined the market size for a novel diagnostic device by leveraging culture data obtained from an Electronic Health Record (EHR) for several specific infectious disease states
  • Led SAS programming on retrospective cohort analysis comparing patient outcomes for patients receiving recombinant versus non-recombinant thrombin
  • Supported a claims database study on how different treatments of knee osteoarthritis impact opioid and corticosteroid injection use by implementing HCUP software to identify surgical procedures and CMS data, and crosswalk ICD9 codes to ICD10 codes

Medical Communications:

  • Enabled a biopharmaceutical client to reach a greater breadth and depth of key stakeholders by developing a conference planning tool to track relevant conferences by attendee type and conference subject to allow
  • Conducted a comprehensive review of manuscripts for inclusion into a meta-analysis to determine how pulmonary artery catheters affect clinical outcomes in cardiac surgery patients

Xavier graduated with a BS in Biological Engineering and an MEng in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University. He also has a minor in Business Management, a Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate and a SAS Base Programming for SAS 9 Certificate. In his spare time, Xavier enjoys running and other sports.
