Matt has lead client engagements within all three practice areas: Business and Clinical Strategy, Health Economics, and Medical Communications. Matt has experience working with diverse clients such as Academic Medical Centers, Pharmaceutical Companies, Medical Device Manufacturers, Photovoltaics Manufacturers, Automotive Companies, and Mobile Telephony Providers. On numerous projects, Matt has guided analysis including competitive positioning, market sizing / share analysis, sales channel strategy, intellectual property (IP) position, value chain analysis, financial modeling, and R&D portfolio rationalization. Matt’s recent projects include:

Business and Clinical Strategy:

  • Developing a growth strategy for a global medical device manufacturer to double revenue in 5 years by assessing market opportunities from the perspective of untapped patient populations and new product concepts;
  • Directing a project for the healthcare consulting practice of a Fortune 100 company to set a launch strategy for new products under development; led team through a process to narrow down a broad set of opportunities to 6 concrete concepts with a fully developed business strategy and execution plan for each;
  • Developing a go-forward strategy for a $100 million business unit of a Fortune 500 Company; performed analysis, including acquisition target identification, market share analysis, competitive positioning, sales channel strategy, intellectual property (IP) position, value chain analysis, financial modeling, and R&D portfolio rationalization;

Health Economics:

  • Conducted an in-depth analysis of EHR data to establish a statistical correlation between laboratory turn-around-time and patient length of stay, the results of which were presented at AACC
  • Developed numerous budget impact models to support medical devices, diagnostics platforms, and service models
  • Directed the analysis of point of care diagnostic devices at a large urban hospital to identify root cause of diagnostic errors and downstream impact on both clinical and economic outcomes

Medical Communications:

  • Lead effort for several peer reviewed manuscripts focusing on clinical chemistry core lab efficiencies
  • Developed posters and abstracts featured at ISPOR and AACC

Matt holds an MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and earned his BA in Government and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College. He has over 17 years of management consulting experience, including intellectual property (IP) strategy development and commercialization, new product development engagements, and business growth and strategy initiatives.
