David has served Boston Strategic Partners (BSP) for 11 years as a consultant, operations director, and currently as the Technology Lead. In his current role, he is principally involved in developing code in SAS to analyze terabytes of HIPAA-compliant, patient administrative and clinical data from Cerner Health Facts which have powered quantitative analyses in support of all three of BSP’s practice areas. His recent projects include:
Business & Clinical Strategy:

  • Developed market landscapes, share of wallet, and product prioritization for a respiratory therapy device client seeking to double EBITDA over 5 years
  • Prioritized high-value software and services for an infusion pumps client seeking to expand their footprint in high margin areas
  • Assessed lab testing trends in Japan to help a pharmaceutical conglomerate position diagnostic instruments to maximize assay uptake and drive drug prescribing for their new, proprietary cancer immunotherapy
  • Conducted a supply chain analysis of the US radiopharmaceuticals market as part of M&A due diligence in order to advise our client of the pitfalls of an acquisition that would have included a division far outside of the client’s core competencies

Health Economics & Medical Communications:

  • Performed data analysis to support a peer-reviewed publication aimed at comparing the effectiveness of multi-modal analgesia against opioid-only strategies for managing post-surgical pain (published)
  • Extracted claims and clinical parameter data and ran statistics to assess mortality, renal, and other impacts of albumin compared to other fluid interventions in the critically ill (in review)
  • Developed selection criteria to assemble a cohort to compare dialysis outcomes in a poorly studied area lacking formalized coding in order to guide a client’s publication and investment strategies
  • Worked with KOLs to draft a congenital disease clinician education handbook showing potential improvements in both mother and child outcomes from close adherence to recommended testing protocols and everyday best practices

David has previously supported Unix server systems for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Calculus & Mathematica program and provided consulting services to the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) in Champaign, IL. David holds a B.A. in Art History from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. With the generous financial support of the firm, David has begun studies in the Master in Health Economics (English, online) program by Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona School of Management, with an expected completion date in 2016.
